Winslow, Arizona is a city located in Navajo County, Arizona. It is well known for being referenced in the Eagles’ hit song “Take It Easy”. The city was named after Edward F. Winslow, a civil engineer who worked on the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad. Winslow is home to a historic downtown district, which includes a number of historical buildings, including the Standin’ on the Corner Park and the La Posada Hotel. The Winslow-Holbrook Airport is located just outside the city. It is the home of the Meteor Crater, one of the best- preserved meteorite impact sites in the world. The Winslow area is also home to several Native American tribes, including the Hopi, Navajo, and Zuni. The city also offers numerous outdoor activities, such as camping, fishing, and hiking.

Winslow was not a travel destination for us, rather a cool “Stop Over” to have lunch and snap a few photos. We were camping close by at Homolovi State Park for only $20.00 a night, and figured it would be fun to go see the infamous corner mural, and eat some lunch.

What we got in return was the BEST tacos either one of us has ever had!

Hamburger Tacos!

I have never in my life had hamburger tacos, and I’m going to assume you haven’t either. I’m not gonna lie, when I first heard of them, I was really grossed out at the thought of this unlikely combination. The waitress assured me that this was their specialty menu item, and people come from all over to order them. So, I took a leap of faith and ordered them. We both did. WOW, was I shocked at the flavor. It was unbelievable! If you are planning a stop ever, in your travels to this little town, do yourself a favor and TRY THESE TACOS! They are at RelicRoad Brewing Company right across the street. You can even sit at the inside window bar and while you eat, “people watch” as many come and go to take photos on the famous street. Bonus: They also have over 20 local craft beers on draft and those were exceptional too!

Here we are “people watching” while we wait for our tacos!
